Sports Physical Process
If your child plans on participating in a co-curricular sport during the 2017-18 school year please make sure you follow the new process in regard to he/she receiving a physical. Student athletes need a physical every other year in order to participate in co-curricular activities. An alternate year card will need to be filled out by the parent confirming the last physical date, during the second year of activity. If you are not sure about the status of your child's physical, you may contact the high school office for assistance at 715.674.2143.
Sports physicals will now be performed together as a well-child visit with a sports physical component. If a child is up to date on their yearly well-child appointment then they will not need to see a provider. All the parents need to do it bring the completed sports physical paperwork in to the clinic and the provider will sign and backdate the paperwork to match the last well-child visit date. If the child has not had a well-child appointment in the past year then they will need to come in for a full well-child visit and the paperwork will be completed at that time. This allows the providers to perform a more comprehensive evaluation that expands beyond just the physical component of the child and identify any underlying issues that a quick 10-15 minute sports physical may not have found.
There will not be any special sports physical hours scheduled this year and all well-child exams are fully covered by insurance so there should be no cost to the family this way.
