The varsity football team lost a close game to Gibraltar on Saturday, by the score of 24 to 28. The boys will host Suring Friday night for their Homecoming game.
The 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams participated in the 2019 Crivitz Invitational at Crivitz High School on Saturday. The teams had 4, 2-set matches against Coleman (7th only), Marinette, Crivitz, Peshtigo, and Bonduel (8th only). The 7th grade team swept their first two matches against Peshtigo and Marinette and tied sets 1-1 against Coleman. The final match of the morning was an intense match against Crivitz. The 7th grade Rebels won the first match and won the second 26-24 in a point-for-point nailbiter! 7th grade ended the tournament tied with Coleman for 7-1 set wins, but the Rebels took 1st in the point differential tie-breaker.
The 8th Grade team started out slow losing the first set to Marinette. They came back ready to play and took the second set ending the match in a split. The Rebels then went on to beat Bonduel both sets! The Rebels faced a tough Crivitz team where they split that that match each winning one set. Going into the last match of the day we needed to beat Peshito both games to be in the running for 1st place. The Rebels ended up beating Peshtigo both sets. We were then tied with Crivitz for 1st place, but the Rebels took 1st in the point differential tie-breaker.
Varsity volleyball results from the Adams Friendship tournament:
The Rebels defeated Neilsville 26-16, 25-17 & Princeton/Green Lake 25-10, 25-18 in pool play. In the gold bracket the Rebels defeated Manawa 21-25, 25-19, 15-1 and Columbus 25-20, 25-23 to win the tourney.
The Rebels were led by Ellie with 38 kills, Sydney 48 kills, and Kelly had 83 assists. Great Job everyone it was truly a team effort.
The JV volleyball team traveled to Reedsville on Saturday and defeated Pulaski 13-25, 25-23, 15-13, Reedsville 25-20, 26-24, Mishicot 25-22, 27-25 and Sheboygan Lutheran 26-24, 25-13 to win their tourney.

The JV volleyball team has a tournament tonight at 5:30 in Three Lakes. The bus will leave Laona at 3:45. Good luck girls!
The practice bus to Wabeno will leave at 3:20 today for football and volleyball. Please release the athletes at 3:10 to make sure they get on the bus. Cross country practice is in Laona after school.
Mr. Sorenson is the Flex teacher this week, so if you would like a place to work, read, or hang out quietly, you can go to his room during lunch.
If you will be 14 ½ by December 1 and would like to sign up for Drivers Ed., please stop in the office. Deadline to sign up is Friday, September 20.
Tuesday’s Homecoming Dress Up Day is “Er or Or” Day. Dress up representing any job that ends in er/or. Make sure what you wear is school appropriate! The Homecoming Dance is in Wabeno on Friday night from 8-11. Cost is $5 per student and prizes will be available.
The PLAY Organization from Wabeno will be sponsoring a Post Homecoming party on Friday, September 20 following the game and dance. The party will be from 11:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. and is FREE for all Laona and Wabeno students in grades 7-12 and their registered guests who attend the dance. The party will be held in the Wabeno High School commons area. Pizza and snacks will be served. There will be prizes for those in attendance including cold, hard cash as well as some games and a chance to relax after a busy week of school. Hope to see you there!
Reminder to Sophomores and Seniors: The Jostens representative will be back on Thursday afternoon to collect your order forms and deposits for class rings and graduation orders. Please make sure you have everything you need with you on Thursday.
